Founded in 1993 by David Galbenski and Mark Adams, Lumen is a privately held, entrepreneurial-driven company headquartered in Royal Oak, Michigan. As you can see below, their vision has grown. Lumen Legal was incorporated as AmeriClerk, Inc. with a goal to bring innovation and entrepreneurial thinking to the legal services industry. The name was formally changed to Contract Counsel in 1998 as the company became a full-service legal staffing company and expanded throughout the Midwest. The company brand was updated to Lumen Legal in 2006 when it added global outsourcing to its global capability and the company expanded throughout the United States.
Lumen’s operating philosophies are embodied in a quote from one of the greatest innovators of the 20th century, Thomas Edison, who said, “There’s a way to do it better – find it.”.
