The Law Industry Vote This November

Lumen Legal maintains a national database of over 200,000 attorneys and surveyed this group,  within our electronic newsletter, regarding their preference in the upcoming presidential election, given the two likely match-ups (although it’s looking like the match-up is close to being determined).  We received hundreds of responses.

The outcome:
McCain has an edge over Clinton (52.4% to 48.6%)

But:
Obama beats McCain (57.5% to 42.6%)

Where is this advantage coming from? Other than broad demographic factors (high educational level), a subtler supposition might be this: does the fact that Obama is a high-achiever within the legal profession (past president of the Harvard Law Review, subsequent civil rights work) make a difference?

Disclaimer: Lumen Legal is not a contributor or vendor to the campaigns of any presidential candidate or political party.  We just find it interesting.
