David Galbenski, Esq., President and CEO

The founder of the company in 1993, Dave has guided development of one of the industry’s most innovative database-driven human resources systems. He has pioneered both domestic and offshore outsourcing solutions for both corporate clients and law firms.

Dave is also Chairman of the Global Board of Directors of the Entrepreneurs ’ Organization (EO) with over 7,000 members and 110 Chapters in 40 countries.

Recent awards include:

  • Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association President’s Award for extraordinary contributions to the organization
  • “Treasure of Detroit” recognition from Wayne State University Law School
  • Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (for Staffing and IT Consulting Services, Central Great Lakes region)

Under Dave’s leadership, Lumen Legal (formerly Contract Counsel) has also been recognized as:

Dave graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan Business School in 1990 and cum laude from Wayne State University Law School in 1993. Prior to founding the company, Dave worked as a commercial litigation attorney in the Detroit law firm of Timmis & Inman.

Mark received his JD from Wayne State University in 1992. He practices with a firm focused on healthcare law, business and corporate, estate planning and administration, and government relations. He has been active on the management team since the inception of the company.

John joined Lumen in August 2008 and brings a rich resume of staffing, logistics and risk management experience to the COO role.

Operational and organizational improvements that John’s teams achieved during his 14 years with FedEx are estimated to save the company $130 million annually. He has also served as a consultant for Sony/Tri-Star Pictures and Technicolor. 

His most recent positions during the last nine years have included Managing Director of MMC (Marsh & McLennan Companies), a professional services firm with $13 billion annual revenues, where he spearheaded new business development … and Global Vice President for Kelly Services. John holds a BA in Behavioral Sciences from National Louis University (McLean, VA).


Karen R. Maheu, Esq., Vice President of
Global Resourcing

Karen is a 1994 magna cum laude graduate of the Michigan State University College of Law and holds an honors undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Windsor. Prior to joining Lumen Legal in 1999, Karen was the Director of Career Services with the Michigan State University College of Law.  Karen is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (WLAM) and has been the 2008 WLAM Menttium Scholar.  Recently, Karen was asked to serve on the board of WLAM Foundation.  Karen has volunteered as a campaign manager and advisor in local political races.

At Lumen Legal, Karen has been instrumental in developing Lumen Legal’s employee and office culture through the implementation of solid HR strategies. In her role as the National Director for Recruiting & Fulfillment, Karen has worked with major law firms and corporations across the United States on specialized contract needs and voluminous, time-sensitive document productions.


Lynn DeLap, Sr. Director of System Audits and Strategic Accounts

Lynn graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and has completed graduate work in Business at the University of Detroit.  She joined Lumen Legal in 2002. 

Lynn has over 10 years' experience in the staffing industry. She served as
Director for an international staffing provider and has worked for a major
Energy corporation. 

Her staffing experience includes implementing quality management tools and programs, analyzing workflows and creating operating efficiencies. She achieved Six Sigma Green Belt status and works with clients at Lumen Legal to develop metrics which drive productivity, cost savings and client satisfaction.

Lynn sits on the Advisory Board for Oakland University’s Paralegal Program and is a published author and keynote speaker at various industry forums.
