The Scenario:

Lumen Legal was engaged by a global aerospace and defense corporation and military contractor to provide a high-level secondee to work in the client’s West coast facility on a full-time basis. The client was interested in bringing on a secondee for a contract engagement, but also wanted the flexibility to potentially transition the individual to a permanent employee.

Our Solution:

  • The Lumen team met with the client’s senior legal team to understand the overall goals for the secondee, necessary practice area experience and the company’s culture in order to develop a customized solution.

  • We delivered a corporate attorney with more than seven years of in-house experience with both a Fortune 500 technology company and for one of Europe’s largest defense/security organizations. Specifically, Lumen’s attorney brought a wealth of expertise with commercial contracts including: purchase orders, supplier agreements, terms and conditions and government contracts.

Outcome:

The attorney not only delivered practice expertise, but also the business adeptness and professionalism to report to executives across the country and to successfully work with the corporate leaders of the organization. During the seven month assignment, the client enjoyed cost savings of $319,300 over large law firm rates. Upon conclusion of the assignment, the client hired our secondee as a permanent employee in their legal department.
